Think of getting promoted as opening a play book for your next game. What do I need to do? What are the best plays? Who is going to help me? Where will I be if I succeed?
Start with Training. To earn better positions we need to keep getting better. The world changes every day and not only do the technologies change what we do, we need to change to manage what is still left for humans. Soft skills are becoming as important as hard skills, but we need both.
Look for Sponsors. Hard work and good citizenship is not enough. Network with superiors and outside your organization. Find people who will support you and give you the types of information and assistance you need. It might be leading projects or getting a budget for your idea.
It takes Courage. Moving forward requires change and change is a challenge. Develop a high vibration which minimizes the effect of fear in our lives. A high vibration begins with a Gratitude Practice. Courage is attractive. It is part of Executive Presence and Gravitas.
Seek Encouragement. Progress is difficult as there is so much resistance in the world. Bold people also have resilience. Success is a long game and our passes get intercepted along the way. Even one person that believes in you can be enough.
Seek Feedback. Get feedback from everyone and offer it as well. It is a skill. Exchange feedback with peers, superiors and reports. Superiors will give you feedback, encouragement, and support for your ambitions. If not, seek an organization that will.
Have a Plan. Global Organizations often face a problem with first their Vision, then understanding the Root Causes, the options and then their Plan. A Plan is a Compass. Work hard but make if focused on you Vision.
